Please accept my warm welcome to the Rabbits section here at Elland Golf Club.
Rabbits are by a large margin the largest cohort of membership here at Elland and I would like to welcome every one of you to the club, be you a new member or one of long standing - your contribution to the club is welcome and much appreciated.
Elland is probably (like the infamous beer) probably the best, ever - so I am so glad you are here with us or wanting to come and join us.
Tigers may be good golfers, but I guarantee that Rabbits have way more fun, and there's loads of opportunities to get involved in league matches, friendlies and all the various social activities the club puts on - so come along and get involved.
The Rabbits section is not just about 'interesting' golf, we also raise a bit of money to support and enhance the club - so if you have any fundraising suggestions or ideas on how to make things better, feel free to get in touch.
A club such as ours is not about individuals playing a sport - its about a community of like minded folk pulling together to make things as great as they can be. If we leave things better than when we started then we are winners, so join me in making Elland not just a probably the best, but actually..
see you out on the course
all the best
John Greenwood

There is an opportunity to represent the Club in the local district leagues organised by the Halifax & Huddersfield Rabbit Golf Association (HHDRGA) and wider by the Yorkshire Regional Golf Associations (YRGA), as well as Friendly matches both home and away.
We currently play 7 friendlies against other local clubs - Bradley Park, Crosland Heath, Huddersfield, Longley Park, Marsden, Ryburn and Outlane.The games are midweek, with 8 players from each side, starting around 4:30 pm. They are played in a friendly spirit and generally involve combining as a 4 man team (2 from the home club and 2 from the visiting club). The evening finishes with a meal and presentation of bottles of wine o the winning 4 man team. The Rabbit Friendlies allow members to meet and mix with like-minded golfers of similar abilities, at the same-time giving the opportunity to play other local courses for a small charge to cover the cost of the meals.
We currently play in Section D of the HHDRGA Rabbit League and will be competing against Dewsbury District, Huddersfield, Longley Park and Saddleworth in 2026
We have had several successes in recent years ;
In 2019 Steve Lamb and Chris Bingham represented the club in the YRGA Thornton Trophy and competed against 86 other clubs from across Yorkshire at Huddersfield Golf Club. With a combined Stableford score of 67 points they won the Trophy by one point from West Bradford. The Trophy and prizes of engraved Whisky glasses were presented to them in September at the annual YRGA dinner, where they were accompanied by John Ainley Rabbit Captain and Barry Littlewood Club President.
In 2021 the 8 Man team of S R Lamb, N Lumb, J Elliott, A Starling, J Adshead, S Duffy, M Sykes and M Reddy came 3rd in the HHDRGA Presidents Day
In 2022 the 4 man team of S Taylor, Alan Oldfield, P Thompson and F Lane came 3rd in the HHDRGA Presidents Day. C Wilby won his section in the R T Morley and narrowly lost out on semi finals day on the 19th Hole.
in 2023 Steve Lamb and John Greenwood won the HHDRGA Mellor Trophy (Foursomes Knockout) at West End Golf Club.
